The strike fighter squadron Stingers was created in 1948. They flew the F4U Corsair, F9F Panther, F9F Cougar, A-4 Skyhawk, A-7 Corsair II, and the F/A-18 Hornet. The squadron surpassed 150,000 hours of mishap-free flight time, making it the safest tactical aircraft squadron in aviation history. Their motto is “The First and the Finest”.
